David E. Reece, DO, FAAPM&R, FAANEM, serves as Vice President of the ASPN Military Leadership Council for the American Society of Pain & Neuroscience, where he is a leading voice in the organization’s Armed Forces Division, a body dedicated to advancing pain care for active-duty service members, veterans, and military beneficiaries. Dr. Reece holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Medical Corps, U.S. Army (LTC, MC, USA), and practices as an interventional spine and pain physiatrist affiliated with Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Reece earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. He completed his internship and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the National Capital Consortium/Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, followed by an ACGME-accredited joint Interventional Pain Medicine fellowship spanning Walter Reed, Johns Hopkins, and the National Institutes of Health. He is board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation with subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine (American Board of Anesthesiology), and holds fellowship recognition from both the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (FAAPM&R) and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (FAANEM). He is also trained in medical acupuncture.

Currently serving as Director of Neuromodulation and Interventional Physiatry at Absolute Pain Management in Rockville, Maryland, Dr. Reece’s clinical practice focuses on complex pain and neuromuscular disorders, musculoskeletal and sports injuries, traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, headache, and polytrauma/amputee rehabilitation, using fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided interventional techniques, neuromodulation, and regenerative medicine. Within ASPN, he has represented the Armed Forces Division in society communications and podcast programming focused on veteran pain care, and has presented Chairman’s Armed Forces Service Awards on the organization’s behalf.
