David W. Lee, MD, is Associate Vice President of Clinical Affairs on the Executive Board of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience (ASPN), a role he has held since 2022 after previously serving as President of Social Media and Communications (2020–2022). In this capacity he helps oversee ASPN’s clinical initiatives and Annual Meeting programming, work ASPN President Erika Petersen has credited with keeping the meeting’s content “innovative and educational.” He also co-chairs ASPN’s Young Innovators Committee.

Dr. Lee is double board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. He earned his B.S. in Biochemistry from UC Riverside and his M.D. from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, along with an M.S. in Applied Physiology from Rosalind Franklin. He completed a General Surgery internship at RUSH University Medical Center, a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at SUNY Downstate — where he served as Chief Resident — and an Interventional Spine Fellowship at The Orthopedic Clinic Association (TOCA) in Phoenix, Arizona.

He practices interventional spine and pain management in Fullerton, California, and holds an appointment as Associate Clinical Professor at the University of California, Irvine, with clinical affiliations at UC Irvine Medical Center and UCI Health–Placentia Linda. His clinical and research focus centers on non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment of neck and back pain, including neuromodulation, spinal cord stimulation, and sacroiliac joint interventions, and he has authored or co-authored more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in these areas. He has served as Interventional Spine Consultant to USA Volleyball since 2013. Beyond ASPN, he chairs the Credentialing Committee of the American Board of Pain Medicine and previously chaired the Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
