Denis G. Patterson, DO, serves the American Society of Pain & Neuroscience (ASPN) as Liaison to the Pacific Spine and Pain Society (PSPS). He is the founder and President of Nevada Advanced Pain Specialists in Reno, Nevada, a practice he established in 2009, with additional clinical locations in Sparks and Carson City. Dr. Patterson is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, with a subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine.

Dr. Patterson earned his undergraduate degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder before completing his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a rotating osteopathic internship at Mount Clemens General Hospital, a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota, and a Pain Fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta.

His clinical and research focus centers on neuromodulation and spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain, and he has served as principal investigator on numerous industry-sponsored clinical trials evaluating spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, and sacroiliac joint fusion devices. He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications in journals including Neuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface, Pain Physician, the Journal of Pain Research, and JAMA Neurology, including a randomized clinical trial on high-frequency spinal cord stimulation for painful diabetic neuropathy. Within PSPS, he has progressed through Board of Directors membership, Treasurer of the Executive Board, and currently President-Elect. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the International Spine Intervention Society. In 2023, ASPN presented him with its Clinical Excellence Award.
