Harry P. Sukumaran, MD, serves as Assistant Vice President, Office of Reimbursement & Regulatory Affairs, for the American Society of Pain & Neuroscience (ASPN). He is a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist based in the Detroit, Michigan area, where his clinical practice focuses on multidisciplinary interventional pain management aimed at improving patient function and quality of life.

Dr. Sukumaran earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology from Michigan State University before completing his medical degree at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. He went on to complete an anesthesiology internship and residency at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pain medicine at the University of Michigan Health System, with training emphasizing multidisciplinary interventional approaches to chronic pain. He holds board certification in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine from the American Board of Anesthesiology, and he serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Wayne State University, where he also practices with the Wayne State University Physician Group.

His professional society affiliations include the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Michigan Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the North American Neuromodulation Society. He is a co-author, alongside colleagues from Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center and Thomas Jefferson University, of “NSAIDs for analgesia in the era of COVID-19,” published in Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine (2020). He has also been named as faculty and panelist for ASPN’s annual scientific meeting, contributing to sessions on neuromodulation and spinal cord stimulation.
