Jennifer Hah, MD, MS, serves as a Director at Large on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Pain & Neuroscience (ASPN). She is an Associate Professor in the Division of Pain Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University, where she practices at Stanford Health Care’s Pain Management Center and Pelvic Health Center in Redwood City, California. Dr. Hah is triple board certified — in anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology, and in addiction medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine.
Dr. Hah earned her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, completed internship, residency, and an anesthesiology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Stanford University, and went on to a pain medicine fellowship at Stanford University Hospital. Her research centers on persistent pain and opioid use following surgery, including interventions to support postoperative opioid cessation, as well as neuromodulation and peripheral nerve stimulation for chronic pain. She is principal investigator of Stanford’s SPARKLE (Stanford Pain Alleviation through Research and Knowledge for Long-term Efficacy) Lab and co-directs the Stanford Pelvic Pain program, with clinical focus areas including pelvic pain, interstitial cystitis, and perioperative pain management. She was first author of a widely cited randomized clinical trial on perioperative gabapentin and postoperative opioid cessation published in JAMA Surgery, and was recognized by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research as the top NIH-funded principal investigator in anesthesiology in 2023. In addition to her ASPN board service, she serves as Secretary of the American Academy of Pain Medicine and on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Spine and Pain Society.
