Sean Li, MD, FIPP, is an interventional pain physician and Regional Medical Director of Premier Pain Centers, an affiliate of National Spine & Pain Centers, with practice locations in Shrewsbury, Freehold, and Toms River/Brick, New Jersey. He also serves as an attending physician at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey, and as Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Li currently serves as Vice President on the Executive Board of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience (ASPN).
Dr. Li earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, an anesthesiology residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and a fellowship in interventional pain medicine at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He is board certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
His clinical and research interests center on neuromodulation therapies, including spinal cord stimulation, high-frequency stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, and peripheral nerve stimulation, along with other interventional techniques such as discography, vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, and epidural and sympathetic nerve blocks. He has authored professional articles and textbook chapters in the field of pain management and remains active in clinical research.
Beyond his ASPN board role, Dr. Li has held leadership positions with the New Jersey Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (including Past President) and serves on committees of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the International Neuromodulation Society, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
