Steven Falowski, MD, FAANS, is President Elect on the Executive Board of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience (ASPN). He is a functional neurosurgeon practicing with Argires Marotti Neurosurgical Associates of Lancaster in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where his clinical work centers on spinal cord stimulation and pain management, complex spinal procedures, and treatment of movement disorders, including deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease.
Dr. Falowski earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 2004. He completed a transitional-year internship at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, followed by residency training in neurological surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia (2005–2010). He then completed a fellowship in functional neurosurgery and epilepsy surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago (2010–2011). He is board certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Within the neuromodulation field, Dr. Falowski has held extensive leadership roles with the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS), including service on its board, as secretary, as annual meeting program chair, as course director for the society’s annual spinal cord stimulation workshop and international cadaver workshops, and as chair of its certification committee. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the International Neuromodulation Society. His research contributions span spinal cord stimulation, deep brain stimulation, and intraoperative neuromonitoring, with peer-reviewed publications in journals including Neuromodulation and Neurotherapeutics. Early in his career, he received a research award at the 2009 PAN Philadelphia Neurosurgical Conference for work on deep brain stimulation’s effects on neuroplasticity in models of depression.
