Vinny Francio, MD
Member, Young Innovators
Vinny Francio, MD, serves as a Co-Chair of the Young Innovators Committee of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience (ASPN), the society’s platform for the professional development, networking, and mentorship of early-career pain physicians and trainees. He leads the committee alongside Yussr Ibrahim, Anuj Shah, and Kelsey Gustafson.
Dr. Francio is on the faculty of the WashU Medicine Pain Center in the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he serves as Associate Director of the Pain Medicine Fellowship. A native of Brazil, he completed residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident and received the Outstanding Resident of the Year and Resident Research awards. He completed fellowship training in pain medicine at the University of Kansas.
His clinical and research interests center on neuromodulation, minimally invasive spine procedures, and interventional pain medicine. He is a co-author of ASPN’s NEURON project guidance on social media use for healthcare professionals, published in the Journal of Pain Research, and has written for the society’s newsletter on the future of fellowship education in minimally invasive spine care.
