ASPN Early Innovators Program

Accepting applications from March 15th through June 1st. Applicants are welcome to apply for more than one position. 

Mission Statement:
ASPN is dedicated to maintaining its role as the leading pain and neuroscience society. In doing so, ASPN recognizes the vital importance of promoting the next generation of physicians in spine and nerve treatment. The ASPN Early Innovators program seeks to provide mentorship and leadership opportunities to residents, fellows, and early-career physicians in order to cultivate the next generation of leaders in our field.

Objective:

  • Create a cohesive network of motivated residents, fellows, and early career physicians with a passion for advanced pain management therapies.
  • Provide hands-on and didactic exposure to neuromodulation, minimally invasive spine, and emerging spine and nerve therapies.
  • Provide mentorship and sponsorship opportunities to Early Innovators.
  • Provide leadership opportunities to select Early Innovators.
  • Provide a medium through which members can network for fellowship and job opportunities.

Leadership Positions:

Director-at-large (5 year term)

  • Selected by ASPN Executive Board
  • Provides directional oversight and guidance with regards to overall goal and mission of the Early Innovators program
  • Work with ASPN executive board and leadership to plan lab course, lectures, and Early Innovators didactics during ASPN meetings

President (2 year term)

  • Selected by ASPN Executive Board and announced at ASPN Annual Meeting
  • Ideally will span the final year of residency and fellowship year OR fellowship year and first year of practice
  • Provide oversight of day-to-day operations
  • Work with ASPN faculty to develop webinar and education program for residents and fellows

Vice-President (2 year term)

  • Selected by ASPN Executive Board and announced at ASPN Annual Meeting
  • Work with ASPN faculty to develop webinar and education program for residents and fellows and support the Director and President with delegated responsibilities

Social Media Liaison (2 positions – 1 year term)

  • Selected by ASPN Executive Board and announced at ASPN Annual Meeting
  • Ideally the term will be during the final year of residency or fellowship year but residents of all PGY rank are welcome to apply
  • Work with ASPN support staff to maintain a separate ASPN Early Innovators Twitter and Instagram account
