Job Description
Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Physiatrist to join our multidisciplinary care team in Towson, Maryland. Under general supervision, the physician will be accountable for the comprehensive clinical management of patients with acute, subacute, and chronic pain related to musculoskeletal, neurological, and spine disorders.
This role involves both inpatient and outpatient care, with a strong emphasis on interventional pain management, evidence-based treatment planning, functional restoration, and quality-of-life improvement.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations and document appropriately in the EMR
- Provide interventional pain procedures including epidural steroid injections, facet injections, medial branch blocks, SI joint injections, radiofrequency ablation, peripheral and sympathetic nerve blocks, and spinal cord stimulator trials and management
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Write and manage patient orders in accordance with hospital policy
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, neurologists, physical therapists, behavioral health specialists, and other providers
- Participate in case conferences, department meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Assess medical, social, and educational needs and coordinate referrals to ancillary and community resources
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, preventive care, and rehabilitation
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters and progress notes
- Pursue ongoing professional development and required continuing education
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited medical program
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Experience
- Proven experience practicing as a Physiatrist
- Board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Maryland medical license
- DEA license
- Completion of required CME credits
- Board certification consistent with specialty
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Expertise in rehabilitation medicine and interventional pain care
- Ability to develop customized treatment plans and monitor patient progress
