Job Description

Boomerang Healthcare, Integrated Pain Management is seeking a personable and relationship-focused Physician (Orthopedic or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) to serve as a primary treating physician for injured workers as well as commercial and Medicare patients in Salinas, California.

This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive care within a multidisciplinary organization. The physician must be comfortable communicating with payor representatives for utilization review and authorization requests while fostering a positive, patient-centered care environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide comprehensive chronic pain care for patients
  • Manage medications, including weaning when appropriate and aligned with current standards of care
  • Evaluate patients with a multidisciplinary team to determine appropriate care pathways or referrals
  • Analyze reports, test results, medical records, and examinations to diagnose conditions and recommend treatment options
  • Discuss potential side effects of medications and treatments and maintain accurate allergy records
  • Advise patients on lifestyle and dietary modifications to support improved health outcomes
  • Adhere to departmental policies, quality improvement initiatives, safety, and infection control standards
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws
  • Document complete, timely, and legible medical records

Requirements & Qualifications

  • California Board Certified Physician License or Board Eligible Physician
  • Current DEA and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing
  • Experience with the California Workers’ Compensation system preferred
  • Functional restoration and rehabilitation experience preferred
  • Experience providing primary care and diagnostic services in a clinical setting
  • Experience prescribing appropriate medications, treatments, and health regimens
  • Experience collaborating with specialists to address patient conditions
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of musculoskeletal pathology and treatment
  • Ability to relate empathetically to patients with chronic pain
  • Understanding of the clinical differences between chronic and acute pain
